My story
My name is Eileen Wu. I'm a neurotypical(?) mum to a neurodivergent son.
My son was diagnosed as Autistic when he was 3 years old. Upon receiving his diagnosis, I experienced an overwhelming amount of stress trying to find the support he needed. How do I find the right therapist for him? Are all therapists the same? What will happen if he doesn't see the right therapist straight away? There were so many questions and so few answers.
As I navigated my way through the fog, I found answers through a patchwork of sources - doctors, friends, Facebook groups, late-night Googling. After significant time, frustration, and more than a few dead ends, I finally got my son's supports in place. But as a technical project manager of over 15 years experience working for companies like LinkedIn and Stripe, I knew there had to be a better way.
Connecting the dots
Finding healthcare professionals who understand how to support your child shouldn't depend on endless internet searches, recommendations from strangers, or paying practitioners just to assess fit.
When your child receives a neurodivergent diagnosis, I know from experience that time and emotional energy become your most precious resources. The mental load of researching, calling, vetting, and tracking healthcare providers can quickly become overwhelming.
On the other side of the care team, solo allied health practitioners face their own mountain of challenges. Trying to start a practice means juggling marketing, NDIS compliance, process mapping, and building referral networks; all while trying to deliver life-changing care.
